We are seeking an experienced Java/Spring Boot Developer to lead the modernization and standardization of our HSAAP solution’s microservices architecture. This role focuses on upgrading and harmonizing framework versions across a large suite of services while ensuring system stability and continuity of business delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the upgrade of nearly 50 distinct Java/Spring Boot microservices, bringing divergent
framework versions (currently ranging from 2.6.3 to 3.5.14) up to a consistent 4.x version. - Plan and execute version migrations in a phased, low-risk manner that minimizes disruption to
ongoing delivery. - Update application code, dependencies, and test libraries to ensure compatibility with newer
framework versions. - Refactor deprecated code and resolve breaking changes introduced by framework upgrades.
- Ensure all automated tests continue to pass post-upgrade, updating test suites as required.
- Collaborate with delivery teams to balance modernization work alongside ongoing business value
delivery. - Document upgrade pathways, decisions, and best practices to support future maintenance.
Key Requirements
- Strong commercial experience with Java and Spring Boot, including major version migrations
(Spring Boot 2.x to 3.x and beyond). - Solid understanding of microservices architecture and dependency management (Maven/Gradle).
- Experience updating and maintaining automated test suites (JUnit, Mockito, or similar).
- Familiarity with managing breaking changes, deprecations, and Java version upgrades (e.g., Java8/11/17/21).
- Proven ability to deliver incremental improvements within a live, business-critical environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across delivery teams.
- Experience working within regulated or constrained enterprise environments.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated build processes.
